We spotted the Easter Bunny in Powerstown ETNS earlier! He left us a trail of eggs from our class into the hall! I'm sure he was hoping to leave the trail outside but the weather was not on his side! We had a lot of fun following the trail and trying to find the eggs he hid in the hall!
We then had lots of fun counting the eggs and counting how many boys and girls were in the class so we could share all the eggs we found!
Congratulations to our Student of the Week and the Blue Table who won Table of the Week! They all worked so hard to earn these awards this week!
In the Chestnut Class we are doing dance for PE! This week we practiced making different shapes with our body to the music! We practiced making low and high movements and then wide and narrow! We had a lot of fun listening to the music and dancing!
On Tuesday the Chestnut Class headed out to the geodome to plant some potatoes! We talked about all the things that plants need to grow properly and we all did different jobs to get our potatoes planted! We're very excited to visit our potatoes and watch them grow over the next few months!
Yesterday we took a trip to the Geodome with Patrick. We followed our rules for when we are outside the classroom and done super listening to our teachers. In the Geodome, we helped Patrick to plant potatoes. First we counted out 21 scoops of compost using a shovel. We put the compost in a flower pot. Next we made two holes and put in our potatoes. Next we counted 21 more scoops in on top of the potatoes and pushed down the soil. We looked at how we write the number 21 in numerals on the chalk board and thought about ways of making 21. We counted the syllables in the word potato and tried to think of words that rhyme with potatoe. Finally we had a look at all the other vegetables and fruit growing in the Geodome. We will check back after Spring Break to see how our potatoes are growing.
Comhghairdeas le Eva! Bhuaigh sí duais inniu mar bhí sí ag deanamh an iarracht ag labhairt as Gaeilge an tseachtaine seo! Maith thú Eva!
Congratulations to Eva! She won an award today for making such an effort at speaking Irish this week! Well done Eva!
On Thursday we started learning the word 'look'! We practiced reading it, looking at the letters that are in it and sounding it out! We then did some rainbow writing and then wrote a simple sentence into our copies: "Look at me!".
Ash Class had lots of fun today. They dressed up in green for St. Patrick's Day. We practiced our song 'Lá la Padraic' as gaeilge and participated in a parade in the hall and with Chestnut Class at the end of the day. During Aistear play we had fun making Irish flags and Shamrocks. During the day our teacher Siobhán taught us an Irish dance called 'Shoe the Donkey'. We danced together in pairs following the along to the beat of the music. Take a look at the photos from our day. Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh!
To say we're having a good time playing Gardaí in Aistear would be an understatement. Eoin and Lorraine have been arrested for theft numerous times and have broken out of jail about the same amount of times! Eoin was also unfortunately electrocuted by an overly eager Garda for stealing the keyboard from the Garda station. We might need to revise what happens in a Garda station again....
